Oh. My. Godz.
I don’t know what it is but I’m really getting tired of all of these sucky vampire ‘urban fantasy’ books, they’re starting to piss me off. Leave it to people who know what they’re doing, and actually write decent stories? K? K! (Read: Amelia Atwater-Rhodes — NOT: Stephenie Meyer — not to mention there are just too many ‘e’s in her name.. for serious — Wait.. did I just name myself anti-Bella/Edward — ehhh maybe I’ll explain later.)
HOWEVER, some good books I’ve read lately are:
Just Listen by Sarah Dessen.
Wicked Lovely &
Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr
In the middle of reading (oh yeah, multi-tasking at it’s best /sarcasm):
You Know Where to Find Me by Rachel Cohn (this one is kind of taking forever, the plot really goes nowhere fast, so I’m drudging through it.)
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (amazing book so far, I can’t wait to get further into it!)
The Wonder Spot by Melissa Bank (this one is kind of slow, no really point yet, which is sad cause I’m almost half way through the book)
Books waiting to be read:
The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore by Joan Lowery Nixon
Fablehaven (book 1) by Brandon Mull
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (this sounds amazing)
Alive & Well in Prague, New York by Daphne Grab (I’m not quite sure what about this book dragged me in, but I seriously can’t get it out of my head.)
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Luxe by Anna Godbersen
Standing Still: A Novel by Kelly Simmons
The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary E. Pearson
– I also really need to catch up on the
Georgia Nicholson books.
Books, I will never ever ever recommend or read again:
My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult (the book itself wasn’t bad, it was a bit drawn out and certainly didn’t need to be as long as it was - however, thats not the problem, I’ve loved books like that before - I’m more of a ‘conversation’ person, and sometime find myself skipping all the little bits inbetween the conversations - HOWEVER the reason I don’t like this book has everything to do with the ending. I’m not one for happy-endings only, in reality, the happy-endings are rare anyway… but this is just ridiculous. There is only one book whose ending made me cry as much as this one - and that was The Notebook - but even the end of that book was happy ending - or in the least, a decent one.)
How about you? Read anything lately?
…huh?
Kari gets me everytime:
